The big problem with making someone a website these days, is... everybody
wants to be on page 1 of Google; and that's a really tough challenge
considering you're up against the big payers spending well in excess of £50 a day
for their placement. Adwords are great, but expensive at 70p per click.
Yell.com will do it for you for £800, or £550 for a regular listing, Thompson, Scoot
and others are similar.
So how DO you get to the top ?
Well, a large part of how Google indexes websites, is by popularity, in other words
''how many inbound links you have''. It's not enough just to have a great site,
you also have to advertise it and put a lot of energy and money into the advertising.
A Yellow Pages ad can cost £2000 a year, aside from the printed book,
you get a link on Yell.com, the data is contained in a 'back databse' which doesn't get
hit very hard by Google, besides, Google can tell a paid submission a mile off
and doesnt regard them as highly as it does a text link in a page, like ours.
Now, it's true we don't have a printed book, but we DO provide
that all important inbound link, and for a Very LOW Annual Fee.
Roughly equivalent to buying just 2 loaves of bread a week. It's almost NOTHING !
We don't guarantee you getting on page 1 of Google, but it's a great start
if you're having trouble getting people to link to you from their site.
And it's a mutual operation too, before we successfully add you to
the database, you must add a reciprocal link to us from your site, this helps us,
which in turn, helps you again - easy.
The more businesses list here, the more funding we have to put into
better advertising, when we goto the top, we're taking YOU, with us.
With Yorkshire Local, you aren't battling for number one spot in your field
because will only list 3 businesses in each category, in each area; this is done
to provide an easy to use system for the everyday user, and so that a business listing
doesn't just disappear in the mire of other similar listings.
We will ONLY list a business that has a website, or has one under construction.
